Beef Curry w/ Croquette

A couple days ago I found out that one of my favorite "secondary" TV shows, The 4400, had been cancelled. This severely pissed me off as it had been in my opinion, one of the best shows on USA. Granted, it was also the ONLY show I watched on USA, but that's neither here nor there. The theme song by Amanda Abizaid is my cell phone ringtone. It's a great lil tune!

So anyway, yeah, I'm mad. Especially since this is the THIRD good, quality show that has been cancelled in the past year. (the second being Journeyman) However, I was happy to find out that there is a movement to save the show, much like the one that successfully saved Jericho. If I'd had my way I would have picked The 4400 over Jericho hands down. You can buy sunflower seeds to send to the network to protest the cancellation. It's 5 bucks though... so I'm still debating. lol Some fan I am.

For lunch today I am having beef curry rice with curry croquette. I plucked out the carrot slices and cut them into flowers with my veggie cutter and then shoved the leftover carrots underneath. The flowers are a little thick, but I didn't have time to slice them up. I had fried two croquettes, but burned the first one by accident... It wouldn't have fit in the bento box anyway!!

My ear has become a mess. I've got this bumpy rash all over it and I totally blame my little eye makeup remover snafu. I can't even tell if it's swollen because all I can think about is how badly it itches. If the rash doesn't clear up soon, I'm definitely going to see my dermatologist.

First off, your bento looks delicious. :)

Second, about your ear: what sort of earring are you using? I personally have reactions to anything but body jewelry quality stainless steel, titanium or niobium. Even gold doesn't work...it is a soft metal, and bacteria can get into minute scratches in it's surface. Get some body jewelry from a reputable source (try a local piercing parlor) in 18 or 20 gauge. That's what gauge most post-style earrings are. If you can't do that, at least do some warm/hot sea salt soaks. Be sure not to use table salt, as the anti-caking agents in them can mess things up. But just use a pinch of sea salt in a shot glass (or a bit more in a teacup) and soak your lobe for 20 minutes or so. That can help with the swelling and irritation. Rinse off any salt residue with clean water afterwards.

Also, Neosporin is badbadbad for piercings! It is a thick petroleum-like product that can actually trap bacteria in the piercing. And try not to handle your piercing at all. I know most places tell you to turn/move the studs, but with the way your ear is irritated, it will just make it worse. If you feel like you have to move it, do so after a sea salt soak when your ear is clean and any crusties are softened.

Sorry to write such a novel! I hope some of the above info helps you out. :)

I love The 4400 too (shot in Vancouver, Canada... we saw them during our HoneyMoon in this city in 2006 (we're French). I didn't know the show was cancelled. Is it because of the scenarists' strike ?!

Your bento looks yummy !

I love curry croquette!

I never heard of 4400 before. O.o

When my sister got her ears re pierce, she always keep on cleaning them while it was healing. Then yea, after a week she had to go to the doctor due to some swelling and irritation on the piercing. Turns out the problem was she was cleaning too much, which delay the healing and irritate the piercing.

So yea... Don't go clean clean crazy.

You may be allergic to the material. I know I am allergic to anything that isn't stainless or gold. I stick to mostly stainless steel posts, I *think* my posts on my diamond studs are platinum or that's what the guy told me but that seems wrong/silly so I don't know.
Didn't your croquette get soggy? Just curious.
Hope your ear feels better!!!

I'm not allergic because my left ear is perfectly fine. I think it has to do with what happened during the piercing. The gun got stuck and the lady had to kinda yank it off. That may have irritated it a lot. The rash didn't show up until after the eye makeup remover incident though... lol!

Advise you to make the doctor appointment today and as soon as possible remove the earrings - it could always be done again once you've healed and know what caused the problem in the first place - there are so many things that could happen to you if you let it go one day more including a blood infection that would spread to other parts of your body - including your heart
