Sushi Bento (118)

Today I'm breaking in a new box, my new Monokuro Boo box! This was one I bought a couple weeks ago but just haven't gotten around to using. It's a pretty small box and since I didn't have too much food to put in it, it seemed like the time was right for its debut.

I used two slices of the tamagoyaki I made yesterday and made me some tamago sushi along with a roll of ume maki to use up the last of my leftover rice. To add color I put in some sliced avocado and carrot sticks.

I forgot to sharpen the image this morning before uploading so the photo is a lil bit fuzzy. I have peeled rambutan and cigar mango in the bottom layer but didn't think it was exciting enough to photograph.

I do believe this is one of my very rare vegetarian bentos. I'll probably end up eating some Smart Pop today to help fill the meat void. I have heard about the whole popcorn lung thing, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop eating popcorn altogether. What I have decided is that eating a bag 3-4 times a week probably isn't a good idea anymore, so I'm limiting myself to one bag per week.

I've also got to somehow get my brain back onto the points system. I've been having difficulties ever since I dropped down past 130 because I guess part of me feels that this is the lightest I've been since 1997 so I'm really still way ahead of myself. I find myself still watching my portions but I no longer pay strict attention to how many points I'm eating. Still, I've been bouncing between 125 and 128 for the last month, so I suppose I haven't been all THAT naughty with my eating habits.

Wow! I don't know how much you started off at but I would love love love to be below 130. Can you tell me/us how tall you are and how big your bento normally are? I've been using the scale/guidelines on Lunch in a Box but haven't lost much weight if any and am wondering what I'm doing wrong...

Hi Yvo,

I started off my Weight Watchers diet in late March at exactly 150 pounds. I am about 5'2" tall and was at one point 190 when I was pregnant.

I don't judge my bentos by size, but by what I put in it. Look into the Weight Watchers Core diet and see if it's something you think you could handle. I was a bit scared to be eating only certain foods, but it was a lot easier than I thought.

I love that box! I've actually been considering getting that exact one for my next bento purchase, but am unsure whether or not it would hold enough for me. Was it enough for you?

I've really gotta get my butt in gear, regarding taking off this last baby weight. I got off to a bad start, though - was a rough labor, and she broke my tailbone. (I didn't know that was possible, til it happened to me!) As a result, I was pretty much out of commission for almost 4 months.

I'm 5'5" myself, and I'm hovering between 155-158 pounds. Ideally, I'd like to see 135-140 again. Guess I should look into Weight Watchers Core diet myself! :)

I'm dying to know - what's popcorn lung thing?

Regarding popcorn lung - I was curious, so I googled it myself.

There's a chemical, called diacetyl, that is in the buttery flavoring in many brands of microwave popcorn. It can cause an irreversible, life-threatening lung disease. D:

That's scary! I had no idea til you mentioned it, Pikko! I prefer popper popcorn, but I'm a popcorn fiend in general, and I ate a lot of it while I was pregnant. It was the main thing I got cravings for. Lucky for me, Orville Redenbacher's brands are now diacetyl-free, so I'm safe. :3

Thanks for making this known to more people!

Marryth: It was actually quite small, but I think if you pack the right things you can still have a nicely filling lunch.

And yeah, the popcorn lung disease is scary stuff. I'm hoping my Smart Pop doesn't have it because it has very little butter.

:3 Beautiful looking lunch!

:< I just wanted to add that popcorn is a very healthy snack!! ^__^ Its actually considered a whole grain and is packed with good for you nutrients.... >_> Just the stuff in the microwave bags have so much stuff in them... butter, flavorings, additives... all that stuff is what makes it unhealthy. :3 Air popped lightly salted popcorn is one of the healthiest snacks you can have!
